Who doesn't love a parade?
Especially when your fellow Central Iowans are involved!

On Sunday, January 3rd from 6p.m. to 7p.m., KCWI is airing the Citrus Parade!
This annual parade features fantastic floats, all decked out in actual citrus fruits: over 100,000 citrus fruits to be exact!
There will also be high-stepping horses, and marching bands, including our own Waukee High School marching band! Congratulations, guys!

The Citrus Parade will be hosted by Cheryl Burke of Dancing with the Stars and Joey Fatone. The on-street reporter is Iowa's golden girl herself, Shawn Johnson!

Tune in Sunday night, everyone will enjoy the fun of the Citrus Parade!

Ah, the typical Christmas morning!
The fire crackles, the children laugh as they tear into their gifts, you sip hot cocoa and watch the snow gently falling by the window.

Well, maybe you don't have all those ingredients, but we at KCWI-KDMI TV can promise you at least one.
This Christmas morning, from 7:30a.m. until 9:00a.m., tune in to KDMI, channel 19.1 and we'll have the fire going!
As in years past, we will be airing footage of a real fireplace, accompanied by Lite 104.1's Holiday music!

I don't know about you guys, but between last week's The Vampire Diaries marathon and this Iowa winter, I'm keeping my scarf securely wrapped around my neck for a while!

Back in September, I blogged about the inevitable juxtaposition between our own show and the movie saga of Twilight. As could be predicted, the comparisons have only continued by the media and viewers at large. For the most part, fans seem to be content with both Vampiverses, or at least peaceful if they prefer one over the other. I've yet to see any "Team Stefan" T-shirts, anyway.

The critics are paying attention to the two teenage vamp sagas, as well, however. The week-long Vampire Diaries marathon seems to have caught the favorable attention of these critics. Ari Karpel of the New York Post recently wrote an article entitled "5 Reasons 'Vampire Diaires' is better than 'Twilight.'" Karpel's reasons range from the seniority of the series, to Elena's strength and depth as a character, to the fact that in Mystic Falls, violence does occur and is actually scary. I have to say, I agree with Karpel. When it comes to vampy drama, The Vampire Diaries is my top pick.
