The Stiver's Ford "Down Right Proud" advertising campaign is a great example of a local business taking advantage of "Timing." Posted on Thursday, 08.26.2010 @ 11:00PM At KCWI/KDMI we produce a lot of commercials for businesses that have jingles. Sometimes we have to ‘fight' with the limitations that a jingle gives us. What I mean is that if you use a sing in and a sing out you really only have about 15-20 seconds to fill with a message. Here is an example of a commercial where we embraced the jingle and made it a part of the commercial. Not just singing over the top of the commercial. This is a classic example of a problem/solution commercial. This gentleman wants to take a shower and he is out of hot water...AGAIN. The commercial then tells us how Golden Rule can solve his problem with a tank-less water heater. The commercial closes with the same man taking a shower singing the Golden Rule jingle because he is so satisfied that he called Golden Rule. This commercial was very effective for Golden Rule, I think partly because we can all relate to this commercial. We have all taken a cold shower, we all have sung in shower, and yes we even all sing jingles. We took the word 'really' to a whole new level. The commercial opens with a beautiful young lady asking "You've never been to Overtime....Really???" Then there are a bunch of shots of people having a good time and saying one liners into camera all of them saying 'really'. It may be a little over the top but it looks like a fun place to go and eat and spend time with friends. That is what a good commercial will do. Make you want to go to that place of business and do business with them. We have been running the campaign for about 6 months and according to Kim Cobb (owner) people really like their commercials and they come to Overtime to let them know. Posted on Friday, 08.20.2010 @ 02:57PM When producing results based commercials we tend to write, re-write, change and then tweak the message until everything is perfect. Yes, this is a time consuming process, but most of the time we have a good message before we even turn on a camera. That doesn't always have to be the case. This week's example is a commercial for Marquis Builders that was produced without a script. We knew the direction we wanted to go and the 'feel' the commercial would have. We brought Nate Miller into the studio put a comfy chair in front of the blue wall, turned on the camera and started asking questions. This gave Nate the opportunity to talk about his business from the heart...not a rehearsed canned pitch. We added some pictures in the editing process threw in some graphics and ended up with a pretty darn good commercial. Oh and by the way Nate told us that after the commercial aired for 2-3 weeks he knew he had been getting some calls, but suddenly his office manager informed him last Monday that he already had 5 new appointments set up to talk to customers about his Payton Plan. Apparently people are still interested in building a new house in today's economy if you ask them in the right way and often enough.
