It was the first measurable snowfall of the year in Iowa and in terms of statewide average went down as the heaviest October snow storm since 1925. Reported accumulations included 5.0 inches at Greenfield, Hawarden, Logan, and Sidney, 6.0 inches at Ottumwa, 7.4 inches at Des Moines, and 9.0 inches at Albia and Pella. At Des Moines this storm produced the only measurable snowfall of the month, but it was still enough to make it their snowiest October on record.
